As an independent contractor for VIQ Solutions, you will have the opportunity to set your own schedule and receive guidance from our supportive, in-office team whenever you need it. Whether you want to work part-time, full-time or all the time, we have an abundance of orders to keep our editors and transcribers busy!
We have a variety of roles available working across our offices nationally, including:
Transcriptionist – office-based employees who are required to produce an accurate and timely transcript from recorded audio and in accordance with the company style manual.
Checker – office-based employees who are required to proof-read transcript, detect grammatical and formatting errors, and merge documents in accordance with the company style manual. A Quality Assurance Checker is responsible for finalising and issuing transcript in accordance with contractual distribution guidelines.
Monitor – court-based employees who are required to produce a continuous recording and accompanying accurate and consistent notes to aid in the production of a timely and accurate transcript of proceedings.
Working from home, contractors bill the company for their output. Contractors must reside in Australia, have an ABN and provide their own equipment. There are two types of work available for contractors:
Running Courts – This work refers to court proceedings which are due the same day as they are heard. A team of 3 transcriptionists are assigned to each court, and proceedings are typed in 10 minute segments. A higher rate applies when assisting with running courts. Working on running courts requires availability which matches that of the court, generally 10am to 6pm AEST on weekdays (please note you do not need to be available every day the courts sit).
Delayed Work – This work refers to orders that have a due date in the future. The turnarounds vary, depending on the urgency of the request. Delayed work allows the work to be completed on any day and at any time of the day.
